Mediterranean No Mow
Left with a mess from a utility line storming through their front yard, the Marcus’ were left with nothing more than straw and some worn out shrubs. Being situated on a small downtown lot enabled the owners to go ‘no mow,’ requiring much less maintenance and inputs than a lawn. The front garden included removals of some existing old shrubs, cleanup of the crabapple tree, and installation of natural stone curbing between the garden and public sidewalk and boulders. Boulders and evergreens were added for structure with an array of herbs and perennials to fill in the entire space with varying colors and textures. All plantings are drought resistant and easy care. In only a year, the design requires little weeding time because the plants have grown and covered the space.
